On Being...

Over at the Washington Post they started up this cool project titled "onBeing". It's a "project based on the simple notion that we should get to know one another a little better". Every Wednesday they publish a new quick vid of a person just talking on the subject of "being". It's actually quite interesting. Of course, the kid steals the show!

Construction for Destruction

Some of you may not have noticed the addition we are building at yhate.org. For those of you that have, you may also have noted that our content has become a tad slack in the various sections of the site. This is because we have been focusing on the creation of many new materials to aid in the destruction of Hate in a fun way. Not to worry, the blog section will remain available as the construction continues, but you may notice our posts being brief and sporadic. We are sure that you will be able to enjoy what we are building for you and our purpose. This process is going to take us a week or two, so we ask that you be patient and not Hate us for it.

For the next year, we will be collecting photos of YOUR hands to be used in a public mural with the words "STOP the HATE". Exact date and location of the mural to be determined based on participation.

Take a photo of your own hand either holding the "¿Yhate?" logo or simply write an anti-hate message on your hand and take a photo of it. Then email it to us.

You don't have to show your face in the photo, and if you request it, we will even be willing to edit the photo for you. This way you can get ANYONE, even children, to participate.

Just email your photo and let us know what city you are in, and if there are any specific instructions for editing your photos before they are displayed. All information will be considered confidential and will be withheld from any third parties or vendors.

If there is one thing I hate is when hate sites rank #1 on search engines for legitimate words. One such site is Jew Watch - An anti-semitic hate site aimed at digging up legitimate and questionable news sources for stories against Jews. This hate site ranks #1 on Google and MSN search for the word “Jew”, this is simply outrageous.
In attempt to knock this hate site form the #1 position I encourage each and every one of you, who own a site or blog, to link the word “Jew” with the natural information source Wikipedia entry for the word Jew.

The Evil of CBS?

Recently a local blogger had posted that he is "no fan of the Columbia Broadcast System (given their logo's resemblance to the eye of Sauron, Dan Rather, and all...".

The Lord of the Rings was originally written as a novel, the first vision of Sauron was first illustrated in a 1978 animated fantasy film produced and directed by Ralph Bakshi. There you can find the character of Sauron as a human form. It wasn't until the 1980 animated TV special "The Return of the King" did they show Sauron as an Eye. Finally in 2001-2003 Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" film trilogy shows both forms.

Here's where it all gets weird, the CBS logo unveiled it's "eye" logo all the way back in 1951 (play dramatic music here). Only 29 years before the vision of the evil "eye of Sauron" was first displayed. The CBS symbol was inspired by the hex symbols resembling the human eye drawn on Pensylvania Shaker barns to ward off evil spirits. If you want to learn more "It's All Here!

So, next time you choose to convert your mind to a vegetative state with some wholesome television, don't be afraid when you see the CBS eye staring into your soul. It's only scaring AWAY the evil spirits.
